At Square by Square we secure at-risk rainforest land in Australia, taking it off the market so it can never be cut down, cleared, or developed.
Once secured, the land is protected and restored by experienced conservation partners, and every Square sold funds the purchase of more rainforest to save.
We created something a little bit different: Squares. Each Square is one square metre of rainforest: mapped, tracked and protected. We want you to feel and see the impact you have.
Square by Square is not a donation. You buy, own and protect a Square of rainforest. Our goal is to be as transparent as possible.
Because you want to do something real. When you buy a Square, you protect 1 m² of actual rainforest. It has a real location, it stays protected, and you can see it on the map. This isn’t a donation that disappears, it’s something you can point to and say this is what I’m protecting.
Squares are for people who want their actions to match their values, even in a small way. They’re also a meaningful gift for someone who doesn’t want more stuff, but does care about the planet!

Our first project Djarawong is located in Australia, however our mission is to protect nature globally.
Why do we start in Australia? Australis is number 6 globally when it comes to deforestation! It's flora and fauna are worldwide unique, but are facing sever pressures due to logging (The Guardian).
Djarawong is located in the Wet Tropics Rainforest, close to Mission Beach, QLD, Australia. This is one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth and home to endangered species like the Southern Cassowary. Protecting this land is vital and every Square you own helps our mission to build a wildlife corridor from the beach to the highlands. (Learn More)
We work with trusted conservation partners.
For our first project Djarawong in Australia, we work together with C4 Community for Coastal and Cassowary Conservation, who have over 30 years of experience in rainforest conservation. They work on the ground in Queensland to ensure your Square is cared for!
The registered owner of Queensland Lot 1RP807619 (Djarawong) is C4, a registered Australian not-for-profit (ABN: 68 561 840 431).
Your Square is a nature-based asset, uniquely linked to a real piece of rainforest. You own the nature positive impact it generates per year: storing carbon, producing freshwater, and sustaining biodiversity.
Unlike financial assets, a nature-based asset grows in relevance over time as it safeguards ecosystems, strengthens climate resilience, and creates measurable impact for the planet and future generations!
The title deed stays with the non-profit, with whom we have specific contracts making you the owner of the Squares.
