Why it matters
Nature doesn't need us. We need nature.
The Queensland Wet Tropics is one of the oldest continuously surviving rainforests on Earth. A living museum that predates the dinosaurs, and it's under pressure. Every square metre you protect is real land, secured through our conservation partners.
Your Square shelters extraordinary lives. Tap any card to discover the animal's story.
Southern Cassowary
One of Australia's most iconic endangered birds. The only animal large enough to disperse the seeds of over 150 rainforest plant species. Lose the Cassowary and you lose the forest.
Spectacled Flying Fox
A keystone species of the Wet Tropics. Flying foxes cross-pollinate trees that feed all other wildlife. Lose them, and the forest loses its midnight life force.
Cairns Birdwing
The Cairns Birdwing depends entirely on pristine forest habitat. Its caterpillars feed on a single native vine species, making habitat preservation critical to its survival.
Rainforest Frog
The Wet Tropics houses over 30 frog species, many found nowhere else on Earth. Their health tells scientists everything about water quality and ecosystem balance.
Rainbow Lorikeet
Rainbow Lorikeets feed on nectar and pollen, moving from tree to tree - transferring pollen and dropping seeds, helping the forest regenerate across wide areas.
Palm Cockatoo
Males craft tools from branches to drum on hollow trees - a behaviour unique among birds and a sign of high intelligence.

Questions
A Square is a documented unit of protection linked to a specific GPS-defined square metre of real conservation land. It is non-financial and does not transfer land ownership. You can name it, see it on the map, and track its impact.
The land is legally owned and managed by our conservation partner, C4 (Community for Coastal and Cassowary Conservation), a registered Australian not-for-profit. Square by Square facilitates funding and mapping.
Our first project, Djarawong, is located in the Wet Tropics Rainforest near Mission Beach, Queensland, Australia. This is one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth and home to endangered species like the Southern Cassowary.
Your contribution funds three things: securing at-risk rainforest through our conservation partner, long-term stewardship and management of the land, and platform operations (mapping, certificates, community tools).
You receive a personalised certificate instantly, your Square appears on the live map with your chosen name, and you get access to your Protector Profile showing your real-time impact (CO₂ captured, freshwater produced, species protected).
Yes! Squares make meaningful gifts. At checkout, choose the gift option, enter the recipient's name and email, and they receive a beautiful digital certificate. The Square is named in their honour on the live map.
